Subnautica (Switch eShop)
£24.99 £8.24
When Unknown Worlds announced they were bringing Subnautica to Switch we were hugely excited, this is one of our all-time favourite games after all, but it was excitement tempered with a degree of scepticism as to how on earth they'd manage to cram the entire experience onto Switch in a properly playable manner. As it turns out, we needn't have worried as this is a super solid port that — besides a few loading stutters and scenery pop-in that's present in every other version of the game — successfully delivers one of the very best open-world survival experiences on any platform to Nintendo's hybrid console.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (Switch)
£44.99 £13.49
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate may lack the accessibility that made Monster Hunter: World such a smash hit, but it more than makes up for it by being a sort of ‘greatest hits’ collection of the high points of the series, giving you hundreds of hours of content to play through. Couple this with the HD visuals, easy-to-use multiplayer, and the ability to play the full experience on the go, and you’ve got a game that will appeal to both veterans and newcomers alike. It may not necessarily represent the future of the series, but this is a fantastic experience in its own right and a worthy follow-up to the 3DS original, and one that no Switch owner will want to be without.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land (Switch)
£49.99 £33.29
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a great big colourful joyride of an adventure for our little pink pal. This first fully three-dimensional mainline entry in the franchise is bursting at the seams with fun and inventiveness, managing to transpose everything we know and love about past Kirby games to this all-new arena whilst adding plenty of delightful new aspects as it goes. Mouthful Mode is as daftly entertaining as it looks, each and every level is packed full of secrets and dripping in wonderful detail, and there are enough side activities, collectibles and co-op fun here to keep you coming back for more for a good long while.
Contra Anniversary Collection (Switch eShop)
£15.99 £3.19
While it’s a shame that there are fewer games here than in other Konami collections – we’d have loved to have seen NES title Contra Force or the now-extinct WiiWare title Contra ReBirth – the ones included in the Contra Anniversary Collection are universally brilliant. The 8-bit and 16-bit entries are among the finest examples of the run ‘n gun genre, and to have almost all of them included in a single release and emulated flawlessly is an absolute treat. Whether you’re a fan of the series or a curious onlooker who’s always wanted to see what the fuss was all about, this is essential.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (Switch)
£49.99 £33.29
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a genuine masterpiece and the highlight of Monolith Soft's superb series thus far. There's an emotionally-charged and surprisingly edgy epic to get stuck into here, a sprawling and hugely engaging narrative populated by a cast of unforgettable characters backed up by the very best combat we've had the pleasure of getting to grips with in this genre. Over 100 hours into this one, we're as captivated now as we were when we first booted it up and it has more than delivered every bit of the adventure, emotion, and action that its key art promised. Aionios awaits, it's time to seize the future.
Mega Man 11 (Switch)
£24.99 £8.24
Mega Man 11 is an excellent resurgence for the character, imbuing the tried-and-true classic gameplay with modern touches and new ideas that expand on existing concepts. The underlying action platforming gameplay is just as tight and challenging as you remember, and when combined with the new visuals and extra options for replayability, you’ve got a game that’s every bit as good as those that came before, while surpassing them in some ways. Mega Man 11 is a modern classic, a fitting refresh for a beloved series.
Monster Hunter Rise (Switch)
£34.99 £13.99
New mechanics, monsters and a gorgeous setting make Monster Hunter Rise a new high-water mark for the franchise. The Wirebug, Switch Skills, Palamute and carefully thought-out monsters shake things up enough to make the game feel fresh for hunters who have previously spent thousands of hours with the series, and while the package could be slightly intimidating for newcomers, it's arguably the ideal place to get started if you're serious about getting into the franchise. And, with a peerless four-player multiplayer experience, the Rampage quests are a blast.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition (Switch eShop)
£49.99 £22.49
Right from its opening moments Divinity: Original Sin 2 simply dazzles. In its seemingly endless parade of well-written characters, hilarious narration, deep and rewarding physics-based combat and the myriad ways in which it allows you to engage with its systems, this is a truly epic RPG that revels in choice more than any that have come before it. It takes the old-school isometric style of Baldur’s Gate, layers it with an unparalleled level of attention to detail and fuses it with a thoroughly modern take on player decisions, resulting in one of the greatest role-playing games on any platform, and it’s all here, present and correct on a portable console.
Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom (Switch)
£49.99 £14.99
Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is an excellent action RPG that's arrived on Switch in a fantastic, feature-packed port. Evan and Roland's antics across this sprawling world are stuffed full of great characters, exciting combat and adventuring, and a kingdom-building mechanic that's a delight to get to grips with. It looks and sounds every bit as good as its predecessor and, although the story might be a little more hit-and-miss, we were completely hooked from beginning to end. This is a sumptuously crafted adventure you won't regret diving into.
The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season (Switch eShop)
£12.99 £3.24
Whether you played this back in 2012, or are completely new to the series, Telltale's The Walking Dead: Season One is still a masterpiece of video game storytelling. It features some of the best voice performances you’ll find on any gaming platform and sets the stage for a grand, multi-season odyssey of tragic proportions. However, this is also a satisfying and poignant collection even if you never play the subsequent episodes. Even if you lost patience with Rick Grimes and TV series adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comic books, this remains an incredible interactive adaptation of Kirkman's world of walkers.
Enter the Gungeon (Switch eShop)
£10.99 £4.39
Enter The Gungeon is a brilliantly tactile, endlessly replayable twin-stick roguelike that sits right up there with the very best indie games on Nintendo Switch. With satisfying combat, random levels, and an endless supply of inventive weapons, items and secrets, it's always a total joy to play. Yet another modern indie classic found a natural home on Nintendo's console.
Okami HD (Switch eShop)
£15.99 £7.99
Okami HD is utterly fantastic and we feel you’d be doing yourself a disservice to pass on it. It's a 40-hour adventure that emulates Zelda wonderfully, adds in plenty of memorable mechanics, features one of the most beautiful art styles in gaming, and is completely playable on the go. It may be showing its age a bit visually and its combat is sometimes a little on the easy side, but Okami is an important, fun, and notable landmark in gaming history — and one of the easiest recommendations we can make for your Switch library.
Blasphemous (Switch eShop)
£19.99 £4.29
Blasphemous is a beautifully crafted Soulslike/Metroidvania action game set in a delightfully unhinged, deliriously gory world filled with well-designed enemies, satisfyingly meaty combat and some truly memorable and grotesque boss battles. Platforming sections are well-crafted and the whole thing comes together to create one of the most visually arresting and enjoyable titles available on Switch. Spanish developer The Game Kitchen has created a nightmare world in Cvstodia, one that will truly test your combat and platforming skills and leave you begging for more come that final bloody battle.
Dark Souls: Remastered (Switch)
£34.99 £17.49
Dark Souls: Remastered is a faithful remaster of a touchstone in video game design that improves the overall performance of the original release while preserving all of the traits that made it such a memorable experience. While it’s no less forgiving — and its menus are still a little fiddly — this slick Nintendo Switch iteration offers an excellent way to experience Lordran’s ultra-challenging odyssey in true handheld form.
Plus, there's a Solaire of Astora amiibo. Praise the Sun, indeed.
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection (Switch)
£24.99 £8.24
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is everything you hoped it to be. This is six great Mega Man games presented to you with a slew of customisable features, extra content, and quality-of-life updates. If you’re a fan of either Mega Man or side-scrolling action games, you owe it to yourself to give this release a go and see what all the fuss is about. These are hard and occasionally frustrating games, but they offer up some rewarding, action-heavy gameplay that even today stands among the best of its class.
Kaze and the Wild Masks (Switch)
£26.99 £4.49
What Kaze and the Wild Masks lacks in originality it makes up for in the strength of its level design, responsive controls, kinetic move set and attractive visuals. Excellent, action-packed platforming through and through, with great gameplay variety and gimmicks that don’t compromise on what the game is best at — challenging, fast-paced obstacle courses and deviously-hidden secret areas. Easiest sell? Kaze and the Wild Masks is to Donkey Kong Country what Freedom Planet was to Sonic the Hedgehog. Don’t miss this one.

The fact that I own most of these shows that I need to rethink my life choices. Really helpful list for those who aren't patient enough to trawl through the Eshop though. I'm just missing Dead Cells as a no-brainer purchase I should have bought ages ago.
By the way for those who want Catherine full body that live in the UK and don't mind digital, CD keys has a sweet deal on it, I snagged that recently: https://www.cdkeys.com/catherine-full-body-switch-eu
Oh I own almost the whole list unfortunately. And Oh I hate Tetris effect Connected so much !🙃such an incredibly generic low taste presentation for the legendary classic. I absolutely despise the music in this game. I wish it was trashy or v a p o r w a v y, but it tries so hard and fails so bad in its delivery. Just don’t. It’s like a really bad, eurodance-ish hollow yet flashy version of sreensaver visuals X asmr cd for good sleep from 1995. With that being said, I applaud the audacity of curating a cheesy & disappointing “healing, stress relief music” experience.
I hope people give Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope a chance that game is criminally underrated
To break from playing Zelda, I picked up Tetris Effect and Ultra Street Fighter 2. Street Fighter is properly rebalanced from the overly difficult HD Remix I had back on PS3, been fun to play through in arcade mode. Tetris looks nice on the OLED, makes me wish Rez was on the Switch though.
@Ristar24 Rez is a beautiful game it would be so nice to have it on switch just sit back with an oled switch and some decent headphones would be gaming heaven for me
A Short Hike and Oneshot are such underrated gems
together we can change it
@Gs69 Yep, I still have my Dreamcast copy and the digital PS3 version of Rez, but would great on the OLED!
I own 23 of those 63 games and can confirm there are a lot of great games in this list. A few more of these are on my wishlist but I'll have to wait and see if the US gets a good sale for them.
@ComfyAko Agreed, a Short Hike is wonderful.
@Friscobay Personally I think Tetris Effect is amazing. I have never played another game which essentially hypnotizes me. I can certainly understand if the main 'gimmick' doesn't work for you though that you wouldn't enjoy it. I wish Switch had more really different types of Tetris games, the 4 I have on Switch are not enough.
@FishyS ye ye it is obviously a taste lvl thing. And of course I would never never ever question the core game itself. Tetris and puyo puyo 4 life!
@ComfyAko Underrated by whom? Every review available anywhere rates both of them very highly.
@scottishwildcat Probably underrated in that their not talked about as much as other games. I myself haven’t heard of Oneshot
Yo, would you mind also updating the list in euro? I can't weigh pounds
A Short Hike is like a micro packed game with incredibly fun adventuring and the mechanics are soooo good!! This is a MUST BUY!!!
Any and ALL SteamWorld games!!!! PERIOD.....
In terms of value (cost / hours spent playing), Dicey Dungeons comes out top in my collection. Not the cheapest it's ever been, but still a steal at £3.37.
If you haven't played Steamworld: Heist, get it!!
I hate the artstyle, and somehow I fell in love with it and couldn't put it down! It's unique, it's fun and it's as difficult as you want it to be. I'd pay 30 bucks for it, and it's 2 bucks right now!
@brandonbwii exactly as @scottishwildcat said, it's not that they're underrated per score, it's just that these games are not talked about at almost at all, at least comparing to other indie gems like Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, or Stardew Valley.
I picked up the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles yesterday and I love it so far. I want to spread zelda out for a good while so this and eventually bomb rush cyberfunk should help with that.
I am fortunate enough to actually own the big majority of these games. They are pretty much all wonderful games. I have a few on my backlog though of course.
Just Evergate and Catherine to download. Thanks for the article
Since when was waves a thing? this is kinda anxiety inducing for someone who is always after good deals.
No first-party games?
I think might finally pick up Astral Chain and MHRise's Sunbreak expansion, though they may still end up on my backlog instead of playing them straight away...
