Review Metroid II: Return of Samus (3DS eShop / GB)
Exploring colourless lands
When Metroid was first released it was a unique game: with a lot of exploring to do across a giant map and with plenty of hidden items and paths, those willing to spend the time to find everything were well rewarded. The original title has aged fairly poorly though — the game lacks many things we take for granted...

Booya, Metroid! I find it a bit odd how so many GB games re-used sprites from their NES prequels. They look too huge on that tiny screen.
Still, I've heard good things about this game. I must give her a whirl some time.
@pixelman
You Should! This game was epic for me! I played it for hours without ever accomplishing anything! (Of course that was amazing, seeing as how my attention span as a little kid sucked...)
If it weren;t for this game, we Metroid gamers wouldn't have saving capabilities in Metroid games for, say, the GBA.
i think i actually remember playing this and finding it tricky to navigate the whole area, it was just room after room after room (x1000). still a great game though
figures, just when i spent crazy money for it on the gbc
Can't wait to grab this. Already enjoy the first for the ambassador program.
Ooooooo, I can't wait until this comes to 3DS VC, when is it going to?. This is one of the only metroid games I haven''t played and really want to bad!!!!
@8 Nah it wont. Nintendo arent releasing any of their GB games with the option of adding colour. It's either B+W or Green.
I tried out this game recently only to realise that I have played it before. Having the NES Metroid on my 3DS I can say that although it inspired a franchise, it really had many flaws. I'm not a metroid fan myself, but this game corrects a lot of the problems with the original and is overall just more fun to play. Having no colour actually has some disadvantage in this game as layers overlap, but overall it's good for a GB game. 8/10. Still not buying it though - I'm trying to keep my money to myself until Nintendo release some GBC games.
yet it has no release date for america, (not yet anyhow) you know i feel as if america is getting the shank of the gaming world here. a lot of the good titles arent coming here. it makes me sad,
It will.
Oddly enough, the original metroid 2 came out in America before it came out it Japan. Now NA is getting it last...
Maybe they're still jealous?
Finally this game is coming to the eShop!
Bring on Metroid Fusion!
Nintendo should make a DX update to this game give us surround audio & DS wide screen.
The best game yet to be released for the 3dsvc I hope the release some more Metroid games soon.
Why is there not a US price on this game? I know it's been released already.
What if for $2.99 extra (Making it $6.98) you would get color, backgrounds, and health-restoring save points making it a 3D Classic? That would be cool.
@Geonjaha Or better yet GBA games to non-Ambassadors.
