Where To Pre-Order Pikmin 4 On Switch - Best Deals And Cheapest Prices

i dont compulsively buy nintendo games anymore. i hope they know that im not alone, and that its something very valuable that they lost.

ill get pikmin 4 if it's good. but we all know its not a guarantee like it used to be.

Still gotta finish 3/deluxe. May not get at launch but will purchase within the window.

Pikmin, Metroid, Hollow Knight, and FromSoft games are my favorites.
I don't generally believe in pre-orders, but I couldn't buy this fast enough.

I thought Pikmin 4 pre-orders were live a while ago? I ordered Metroid Prime Remastered, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, and Pikmin 4 in the same My Nintendo UK Store order in February.

Maybe I am crazy enough to buy this instead of Tears Of The Kingdom. That’s because I am. Looking forward to it.

@TheBigBlue I will buy TotK, but I am certainly WAY more excited for Pikmin 4. The Pikmin trilogy is a magical experience and IMO the most consistently great series of games. The only mis-step was Hey Pikmin, which is really not a mainline entry anyway.
I am so happy that a 4th is finally a reality after 10 years!

@-wc- I hear ya, but I think this will be good. Strikers, Sports were duds. I think Splatoon 3 is great for those who like franchise, but I didn’t play 2 enough to warrant a purchase of 3. Same with Bayonetta and Pokémon….unless this turns out to be a complete disappointment, I am getting it….

I am so looking forward to Pikmin 4. The prices in the US are pretty much the same (I’m not including play Asia as I’ve never ordered through them.) I’m ordering mine through Target. With the redcard I’m getting free shipping and saving 5 percent. It’s the cheapest I could find here.

Oh.. I loved Pikmin on Gamecube and the demo I played of Pikmin 3 on Switch, but when they die or get left behind...I can't stand it.
I am not kidding when I say it puts me off getting another Pikmin game! They have souls, dammit.

@EarthboundBenjy they were, right after the announcement. I got mine locked in at Target for b1g1 half off. Two copies, one for me, one for my daughter.

@-wc- That's rich. Nintendo's never had consistent quality game output. Name any system, all the way back to the arcade / NES days and there are several stinkers in there that people don't wanna talk about. I don't see why you'd idealize their output in the first place tbh.

pikmin 1 is a brilliant, perfect little game in my opinion.

pikmin 2 takes that idea and bloats up the system about as far as it can go without ruining things.

pikmin 3 gone done it. its not the worst game in the world but it does not have the magic, for me, at all. i regretted the purchase.

(and the less said about the 3ds one, the better.)

if Nintendo's output ever since had been up to par, id be ready to buy Pikmin 4 on day 1 regardless. sadly, this is the story for me with most, not all, of my favorite nintendo properties. again, in my opinion.

in my opinion, nintendo's output from the late NES days through the gamecube era, and to some extent the wii era, was particularly strong. the best, even. Maybe the longest, best winning streak of any games company, ever.

ive been around long enough to know that the hit/miss ratio for nintendo on the major first party releases is not what it once was. i dont even think its debatable.

wow, i had forgotten about some of those, even 😔. i let myself get pretty hyped for sports, strikers, golf... those same series on prior systems were guaranteed hits. i dont think some of the people here understand the real meaning of that.

more lately, ive bounced right off some of my personal favorite series', including FE: 3 houses, metroid dread, kirby TFL. im not saying they are bad games, but they are not as good as what came before, in my humble opinion. And, there is more interesting stuff around now, to me.

OTOH paper mario origami king is completely weak sauce compared to where that series is coming from.

anyway, there are a few to look forward to! nintendo is still my favorite games company now or ever! f zero, waverace, and pilotwings please! release mother 3 and all non violent drug offenders, too. ✌️

@-wc- I thought Metroid Dread was pretty good. Admittedly the only other Metroid I had played before then was Prime literally back in 2002.

However, from online, I thought most people who have played all the games thought Dread was good too.

im not saying metroid dread is a bad game.

i am saying, most any other 2d metroid game is utterly compelling, yet i struggled to stay interested in metroid dread. i found the EMMI "segments" pretty bolted-on feeling and pointless. i think the whole thing feels like an extremely polished fan project. a bit lifeless, and slightly off-brand. i quit playing it for good after a few weeks and now i just feel guilty for not even wanting to go back.

but everyone else seems to love it, so i guess its just me! 🙃

@-wc- yeah, I skipped the most recent FE, but got the Kirby remake.

@-wc- We actually do know if it'll be good, because it is from Nintendo who has an impeccable track record. It's like Sony, pretty much any game from them is guaranteed to be objectively good. It's the safest bet you can take. I'm always puzzled by people who don't know Nintendo is literally the safest bet in gaming you can take with your money. Please don't tell me you buy EA/ActiBlizz/Xbox games, because that'll expose you as a fake and lacking gaming knowledge.

I want to start buying day one again for games I like. Gaming is a much more fun hobby if I trust the developer and am not in a hyper sceptical mood.

The only Nintendo game this generation that I can say I regretted buying was Nintendo Switch Sports( Soooo shallow...), maybe Breath Of The Wild too but that one is a complicated case of love/dislike.

And I want to buy games like this in the store. If I leave the house to buy a game I know it is worth it. Ordering games is a little bit boring.

That said I am eagerly awaiting Pikmin 4. Lovely cover by the way.
I am really curious about the gameplay with the cute dog. This dog would be a great pre order bonus as a small stuffed toy.

@-wc- the two massive disappointments were Mario Strikers and Wii Sports. Otherwise Nintendo has been pretty consistent. I am going to guess this will be a solid 8 out of ten ….

i hate to attempt a pile- on, but:

mk8 dlx was slightly worse than mk8 IMO (on a fundamental level, not accounting for newer dlc and things, i do love mk8dx)

metroid dread was underwhelming, first lukewarm 2d metroid game in my life, and ive been here for it since the very beginning 👍

pikmin 3 was worse than pikmin 2, was worse than pikmin 1 (pikmin 1 was essentially perfect.)

smash bros never was as good as melee ever again. that game is perfect. (lesson from many of these: more is sometimes less.)

pilotwings resort is inferior to 64 and snes, never got another one.

metroid prime is better than 2 or 3 (again, this is IMO)

mario party games have generally gotten worse after the first couple.

the pokemon games only seem to get worse for at least a decade

mario golf on switch was a massive disappointment

warioware games became less compelling over time, in a big way, with some exceptions

kirby games have become patty cakes and graphically generic over time. (AND I LOVE KIRBY 😥)

fzero gx was a major high point for the series, but that was 20+yrs ago...

paper mario peaked 20 years ago.

if i only loved splatoon and animal crossing, i guess id have no complaints 😅

the only day ones left are mario and zelda, for me. 👍

BTW my point isnt that "nintendo sucks now," my point is that they used to have something like a 90+% hit rate, to the extent that i could afford to take a chance on buying their games, sight unseen, day 1, and now, as ive demonstrated using 20+yrs of personal history, they dont. in my opinion 👍✌️

Part of me wants to preorder it, but I KNOW it's not my kind of game :/ Tried the same recently with Metroid Prime Remastered... bought it regardless to give it a second try but it's no use.

Not sure if I'm gonna like this game, wasn't that big into Pikmin 3 Deluxe but I'm still gonna buy it day 1 because I really want Nintendo to continue supporting their smaller franchises and i'll show that in the best way I can with my wallet. It'll be really sad if Nintendo turns into the Mario, Zelda & Splatoon factory, I love that they're so Multifaceted, and want them to stay that way

Completely agree, though you lose me with BOTW. thats a tremendous game, its not as "true Zelda" as ALTTP of course but its very Zelda in so many ways, even in new ways 👍 also its incredibly enjoyable to play from a combat and exploration standpoint, and has incredible, next-level music, IMO.

(full disclosure, Zelda is my favorite series of all time and i love almost all of them 🙂)

also, it sets up TOTK so well, its practically a beta for that game. and, hot take, TOTK might be the best game ive ever played in my life. we'll see! ✌️

@-wc- absolutely wasn’t a critique on any of the franchises i mentioned, i adore mario and zelda games and yeah you’re right there’s only one every now and again, i was more so stating i like that nintendo does things as well as those games despite those being the only huge sellers (to be clear i was including animal crossing and kirby in there too, didn’t wanna list everything tho)

i’m buying pikmin in the hopes that other people also will, to let nintendo know that they have more than just the heavy hitting franchises

Pikmin is easily one of the best Nintendo franchises. All the games in the series are great, I am confident 4 will be a blast, too. Of course I pre-ordered my copy months ago.

@-wc- I agree with some of what you are saying. As much as I don’t care for the overall direction of MK8d, I will still put a hundred hours into it. Pikmin 3 was still a good game. Smash Bros- tons of content. With some exceptions, I think you get your $$$$ and then some with Nintendo, even if not the same as the good ole days…

@-wc- I´m with you. The only Nintendo games I like on Switch are:

• Warioware Get it Together
• Mario Kart 8
• Smash bros Ultimate

The other Nintendo franshises i don´t have $60-level fun lately.

btw the mk8 one is the weakest case, thats why I started with it. ...OTOH, we have been stuck on "8" for so many years that i think it's relevant that from a gameplay balance perspective, Wii U mk8 was the better game, all those years ago. I'm mostly referring to the terrible 2 item system.

I've still played the hell out of 8dx and will continue to do so 🙂 great game! incredible music!

@-wc- you've really nailed it, sucks to read through the list of games all the while knowing that it's true in 90% of cases.

My theory is that they mostly rely upon younger generations picking up Nintendo (and the power of nostalgia too of course) to drive sales towards a market base that assumes the standard quality is essentially level. It's hard to vote with your wallet in a world of quasi-deceptive marketing and against franchises which typically are excellent, or used to be. But at least avoiding preorders does protect against some of those pitfalls.

@-wc- I understand the business decision to not release a Switch specific MK, but I wish they have us at least 16 new tracks. What they are doing right now is so lazy and borderline criminal. Even then, it isn’t bad value for $25…. But it could be much better.

@NeonPizza I like ur style. the ar glasses from the bowsers challenge ride would be so cool for the next mario kart game or any new nintendo game. Im also getting tired of new games, last game I bought was monkeyball mania bc of gyro support. optional ar glasses could let nintendo be its wacky self and cater to normies all at once.

nintendo staked out AR way way back on the 3DS. it's old, proven tech, now (Nintendo's favorite, when they have their heads on straight,) doesn't otherwise require cutting edge tech/ graphics to pull off, and falls under that great game/toy/experience category that the great nintendo stuff always did. i feel like gunpei would approve ✌️
